If you have been diagnosed with cataracts and are looking for an effective way to improve your vision, cataract surgery using the Tecnis Symfony/Toric lenses may be a good option! These lenses are inserted into the eye to help improve overall vision for an improvement in quality of life. When being treated by our skilled team of physicians, you can be sure that you are in good hands!
The Tecnis Symfony/Toric lens is used during cataract surgery to improve nearsightedness and farsightedness. By implanting this lens during cataract surgery, your vision can become clearer, making everyday activities more enjoyable for a better quality of life.
Cataract surgery is an outpatient procedure and usually takes less than 60 minutes to complete. Prior to the procedure, eyedrops will be used to dilate the pupil, and a local anesthetic will be used to numb the eye. A medication may also be offered to keep you calm during the procedure. Then, the natural lens of your eye will be removed, and a Tecnis Symfony/Toric lens will be interested in its place.
Following the cataract procedure, your vision will improve over the following days. Blurriness may occur at first but will dissipate as your eye heals. Mild itching and discomfort may also temporarily occur. You may be asked to wear an eye patch for a few days following surgery to protect your eye, and eyedrops may be prescribed to help prevent infection and reduce inflammation. Complete healing usually occurs within eight weeks.
Healthy patients with cataracts who wish to improve their nearsightedness or farsightedness can often benefit from this procedure. However, individuals with recurrent or severe uveitis, any disease that produces an inflammatory reaction in the eye, past trauma to the eye, or medically uncontrollable glaucoma may not be good candidates for this surgery. The best way to determine if this procedure is right for you is to schedule a consultation appointment at our office with one of our eye care physicians to discuss your treatment options.
