Dr. Carl Hyder founded Eye Care Physicians and Surgeons of New Jersey in 1988. His ophthalmic experience as a board certified ophthalmologist spans two decades. Currently, he is a respected leader and innovator in the field of cataract and refractive surgery. In addition to a wide range of clinical diseases, he offers surgical corrections for myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia.
Dr. Hyder’s under graduate career began at Lehigh University. He completed his degree Summa Cum Laude in two years and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Society in 1983. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and his medical internship at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His ophthalmic education was completed at the Mount Sinai Medical Center of New York City.
His long and diverse training has afforded him the opportunity to experience the evolution of modern ophthalmic and refractive surgery from the pioneering days to present. As a resident, he worked with and assisted Dr. Casimir Swinger in the development of lamellar keratomileusis and LASIK surgery. His corneal training in transplantation, epikeratophakia, and intraocular surgery was aided by Dr. Penny Asbell, a leading corneal specialist and pioneer of CK technology.
Dr. Hyder is amongst the first surgeons in the Delaware Valley to perform RK, AK, PRK, LASIK, and CK, and phacoemulsification. In addition, he currently has expertise with Intacs, corneal transplantations, glaucoma, and diabetic laser surgery. Along with his expert staff he is able to customize his treatments, choosing from a spectrum of the most modern procedures, optimizing each outcome. Dr. Hyder personally follows each patient prior to and after surgery. He operates both in office and in outpatient settings including Kremer Eye Center. Dr. Hyder uses the most innovative no stitch clear corneal topical anesthetic approach method to deliver wide range of intraocular lens implants including astigmatic and multifocal implants.
Dr. Hyder enjoys tennis, hiking, skiing, and spending time with his three daughters and wife.
