Each year over 20000 Ophthalmologists from around the globe join to discuss, learn , and interact with each other.  This year in San Francisco was no exception.  In the next few blogs I hope to share with you some of the exciting experiences I had.

This year I spent a significant amount of time deciding which OCT to purchase for the practice.  This device produces some of the most amazing pictures of the macula, retina, and optic nerve. I chose the Cirrus by Carl Zeiss because of its excellent pictures of the macula which will further assist in diagnosis and treatment of macular problems such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. This device can actually show the layers of the retina including the actual photoreceptors and the retinal pigment epithelial layers.   The nerve fiber layer can be measured in microns and comparison pictures and computer analysis can help quantitate progression or regression of various conditions.   The OCT will be located in the Cinnaminson office.   If we need to use it for your diganostic needs I am sure you will also be fascinated as well as us.  It is fast  painless and the pictures speak for themselves.
